I always get excited when the new Anthropologie catalog comes out. I love that this one has a strong Catalan vibe. I just FaceTimed with my mom and dad. They are currently in this part of the world, eating a lot of jamon and drinking porto.

Here are my picks. The prices seem very reasonable this season. And I didn’t even get to choose from the accessories because they were all too beautiful. Look here.

ELC 2012 BCA Campaign (PR Visual)

 

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Estée Lauder Companies’ global Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign. The 2012 Campaign theme is Courage. Believe in a world without breast cancer. It also celebrates the life and legacy of BCA Campaign Founder and Pink Ribbon co-creator, Mrs. Evelyn H. Lauder.

The BCA Campaign is active today in more than 70 countries, has raised more than $35 million to fund 140 Breast Cancer Research Foundation® grants for medical research and this year alone supports 13 research grants across the globe. The BCA Campaign will continue spreading its lifesaving awareness message globally in the hope of a world in which breast cancer no longer exists.

In addition to selling special pink products to raise funds for medical research, the BCA Campaign has taken new forms. Since 2010 Estee Lauder and its partners has illuminated numerous buildings, monuments and landmarks all over the world in glowing pink lights, focusing attention on the importance of breast health and that early detection saves lives.

Estee Lauder’s Business Development Manager Mel Lerma spoke about Estee Lauder’s continued commitment to promote breast cancer awareness by education and medical research. The message is – early detection can save lives. (Get an annual mammogram if you are over 40. If you have family history, start having a mammo at 35. Monthly breast self-exam is a must.)

Rovilson Fernandez talked about his mom’s own journey with breast cancer. It took four different doctors and tests before she found out she had cancer. The first three doctors – with mammograms and ultrasounds – all gave her a clean bill of health. The fourth doctor found the spot near her aereola. She had a masectomy and she’s well now. Rovilson’s message is for women to know their bodies and trust their instincts. Go for a second, third, fourth opinion if you feel something “strange” in your breast.

I was invited to join the official toast alongside SSI’s Anton Huang, Estee Lauder’s Mel Lerma and model/TV host Rovilson Fernandez. I am not officially associated with the cause nor the brand, but I’ve been a supporter of women’s health and breast cancer awareness as an individual. I strongly believe that early detection can save many lives.

 

I’ve known too many women afflicted with this disease. This year alone, three friends got diagnosed. I’ve seen women cry alone at my doctor’s clinic upon receiving bad news. But I also believe that this can be beat.

Please take the time to do a self-breast exam every month five days after your period. If you’re over 30, have a clinical exam as well. Then when over 40, include an annual mammogram on top of all those methods. I know we are all too busy, but a few minutes a month can save your life.

And please help spread the word.

This is Part 2 of my Pantene Nature Care video collaboration.

I invited my good friend Katherine Cheng to join me and Isabel Gatuslao during the shoot. Katherine and I have more than K&Company in common – she being its owner and designer and I being their image model (I’ve been with them for so long, the term was still “image model” then. Haha.) We also both worked with Isabel Gatuslao – she for packaging and I for branding and graphic design. Plus we both go religiously to Alex Carbonell of Studio Fix for our hair needs. I have ran into her at the salon coincidentally many times.

For these shoots, all three of us wore K&Company clothing. I don’t think I have to explain or describe K&Company. You all know by now. But if you want to see what’s in my closet, check out their Facebook page here.

Isabel took all these photos. I wan’t able to take behind the scenes shots as I was wearing too many hats that day. I love shoe shots. My black pumps were on sale in Massimo Dutti last season. Katherine’s were from Zara.

Here’s Alex tossing my hair. He’s such a great creative partner. Every visit to him is like a free therapy session. He analyzes my hair and walks me through every step of what we’re trying to do. Because I don’t have him daily, I rely on Pantene Nature Care at home to get my hair to either bounce or sway.

Pantene Bounce and Sway x DAPHNE®

 

 

I’ve been meaning to share this exciting bit of news for some time. I’ve got the most awesome collaboration with Pantene Nature Care. A few months ago, they tapped me as a creative partner and digital ambassador.

Here is the first video series I came up with – featuring creative women I look up to and luckily, I work with. We talk about our work, design process and our fashion and haircare choices.

It was like a collision of three worlds all with distinct visions and products, but with similar style ethics. The series features Katherine Cheng of K&Company and Isabel Gatuslao, my graphic designer. Coincidentally, Katherine also got Isabel to redesign her packaging and bags.

The videos were shot and edited by the team of Marty Ilagan. Here is the first part, me.

 

 

Well, my hair has a mind of its own. And I like that I can make it go bouncy or make it sway. But it really helps that Pantene Nature Care has two sets of hair care that can suit whatever look I’m going for. I want it either full but not frizzy or shiny but not too limp.
