Leading Ladies

Leading Ladies Title Card

I was featured in Leading Ladies, a new show on the Lifestyle Network, hosted by Lucy Torres-Gomez. We spent the morning talking about my work, my family life, this blog and the products created under the DAPHNE label. We filmed at the old Dimensione building at Bonifacio High Street. The store has since moved to One Parkade still within the High Street compound.

Lucy was as lovely as ever. She’s just perfection! It was such a pleasure to be interviewed by her. And to have a whole episode focusing on me. What an honour. I hope you can catch the show on Wednesday, 9pm Lifestyle Network.

Gifting and freebies

Thank you to so many of you who send samples and presents. I don’t really do product reviews except those coursed through a marketing agreement; and when it happens, it’s clearly identified. I respect my site partners and sponsors. It is a responsibility I have towards my readers. But I really do appreciate the kind generosity you show me and I try to support small creative entrepreneurs. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

(I wrote a long “editorial” about gifting and freebies, but it mysteriously didn’t get saved. Maybe it’s a sign. No need to get into detail. Hot topic today. You know the gist. It takes me money and time to run this site. Freebies are not new to me as a TV host and former editor of a wedding magazine. It is not something I encourage or ask for. Also, I was a product endorser even before I had this blog. Yes some of my endorsements spill over to this website. This is the way the world is going now. Bottom line, sponsored posts are identified. Endorsements are obvious and identified, ie. some of my own ads are on the sidebar. Companies and entrepreneurs who want to be featured can contact me directly at info@daphne.ph. I am not represented by any talent agency or digital marketing agency. I manage myself – in all aspects as a tv host, host of events, endorser, creative collaborator, publisher of this site. So just talk to me.)

Here are a few items I’ve received recently, some from sponsors and some from random kind strangers. You might find some great ideas for gifting here.

I was thrilled to receive an autographed copy of Bobbi Brown’s new book Pretty Powerful. My friends in National Book Store love to surprise me with pretty little gifts. This book is all that – plus it’s packed with stories of powerful, empowered women!

“Over the years I’ve worked with countless women who have inspired me with their stories. Beyond makeup, we’ve talked about life-altering events. Everything from the joy of being a new mom to dealing with homelessness and divorce. With each conversation, these women have shown that when you have the will and the heart, almost anything is possible—and that’s what Pretty Powerful is all about.” – Bobbi Brown

There are some inspiring videos of the women featured in Bobbi Brown’s website. Here are my faves:

“Just start. Put one foot in front of the other.” — Lauren Bush

“All I ever wanted was real estate and lipstick.” — Blythe Danner

Watch this very easy and informative makeup tutorial by Bobbi. I love how natural and pretty her makeup style is.

And as a treat for DAPHNE® readers, we have an awesome giveaway now!!
