What the fox?

It’s Friday and I’m having a crazy frustrating day. I asked my staff to do an easy task at the bank but she was given trouble, forcing me to use the word “chechebureche.” Then my friend Tim Jimenez created a new definition for me:

Chechebureche” : (n.) Filipino /tse’-tse’ ‘boo-re’ tse’/ (def.) Unecessary hindrance to simple tasks. SYN: red tape, inefficiency, stumbling block, impediment, foot-dragging, monkey-wrench.

So now I’m laughing.

So I started working on a nice design post on the theme of foxes. Then Flickr, my photo host, goes offline for a scheduled maintenance check. Oh my. So this is all I have… Haha.

Since this post is so incomplete, I’m posting this silly Fox song that my sister sent. It’s so dumb that I am actually laughing. No more chechebureche.

Happy Friday everyone! Smile.

Conversation with Carlos Ott

Just edited an old taped interview with Carlos Ott, an Uruguay-born Canadian-resident architect who built landmark buildings like the Opera de la Bastille in Paris back in 1983. He also claims to have created the original concept of the Burj al Arab which was adapted by another architect.

Carlos Ott is the architect of Rockwell Land’s The Proscenium.

I have a few video taped interviews with other interesting design personalities still to be edited. Let me know what you think of this video concept.

Yahoo’s Style Factor

Wow. I’m on Style Factor (Yahoo Philippines).

I did this interview a few months ago and I remember being awed by the host, Nikki Muller. She is a Swiss-Filipina TV presenter based in Singapore. She started her TV career when she was 15 with MTV Asia and Disney Channel Asia. Because she fell in love with the medium, she studied Broadcasting and pursued it as a career. She’s very good at what she does.

Here are some screen shots from my Yahoo.ph feature. This is definitely one of those moments where I feel like they are talking about someone else and not me. Features have that way of showing a much better version of you. So for that, thank you Nikki and Yahoo Style Factor.

The sound of silver

From our friends at Hermes in Greenbelt.

What if silver had a sound?

Chanting…enchanting chains, bracelets, rings; this is the sound of Hermès Silver.

Out of obscurity a series laser strikes a piece of jewellery placed on metallic turntables, then moves over it, caressing its volume, and coaxes from it its own particular voice.

Chaîne d’ancre and its variations, Initiale, Parade, Osmose and Etcaetera – each of Pierre Hardy’s creations find musical expression.

These alien notes then join together to create an experimental symphony.

Tory Burch Fall 2013

Tory Burch: Making of a Show on Nowness.com

Here’s an insider’s glimpse of the energy that enveloped the Tory Burch Fall 2013 show in Tabitha Denholm’s ethereal short.

In addition to the designer herself, models Cara Delevingne and Julia Nobis, stylist Tabitha Simmons, hair stylist Eugene Souleiman and makeup artist Diane Kendal are the protagonists captured in the unveiling of the label’s Gustav Klimt-inspired collection at New York’s Pierre Hotel. Jewel-tone colors, romantic prints and rich embellishment added to the luxe extravaganza, soundtracked here by wistful Canadian duo Blue Hawaii.

“I first came across Tabitha’s work on the website Nowness. She had directed great videos for the band Florence + the Machine, there was something about her style that immediately caught my attention. As soon as we met, we hit it off.

I loved her energy, her sense of humor(very English) and the way it was all mixed with a delicate and poetic take on everything. We first worked together a few years ago on a film about our shared love of New York City.

Last February, we collaborated again, she wanted to film the making of our show and witness the intense last days of the preparation. She was essentially a fly-on-the-wall, following us everywhere, showing the effervescence of the team making sure the clothes, the hair, the make up and the music were perfect, all captured in under 12 minutes!

I want to thank her for creating such a beautiful and evocative film. She really captured the atmosphere of the sleepless hours, team effort and creative days. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.” — Tory Burch
