Ines de la Fressange for UNIQLO

Ines de la Fressange x UNIQLO at SM Mega Mall.

Last Friday, I had the privilege of being one of the first to shop the Ines de la Fressange line at UNIQLO at a small private event in Mega Mall. It was a thrill because I’m a regular UNIQLO shopper and a big fan of Ines de la Fressange. Thank you, UNIQLO for inviting me.

I have to say it is one of the best designer collaborations I’ve seen – all easy-to-wear basics with that Parisian  je ne sais quoi that Ines embodies. Lots of boyish shirts, shrunken blazers, slim trousers, longer shirt dresses with a 1940’s silhouette (lawn dresses). The pieces can be mixed up and thrown together. You don’t really have to think. Again, that “Parisian chic” philosophy. All at crazy UNIQLO price points. Every item had a tiny little red quirk in its detailing – like in a button hole, a hem, drawstrings or a button. Red represents  the  Légion d’Honneur, which was given to Ines in 2008. The palette – very French in navy, red, khaki and white. Needless to say, I went a little nuts on the shopping and needed help carrying my bags to my car. Ha ha. Oops.

One of my friends reacted to my Instagram posts and asked about Ines “de la what?” Ines de la Fressange, to most younger people, is the woman who wrote Parisian Chic – the guidebook to French effortless style. She is the fashion icon behind the rebirth of Roger Vivier. The icon of French style. To me, she is the quintessential Chanel woman, as the face of the brand in the 80’s. Loved her then. Love her even more now.

With Katsumi Kubota, Chief Operating Officer of UNIQLO Philippines.

With Geraldine Sia, GM of Uniqlo Philippines. She’s wearing an Ines de la Fressange x UNIQLO dress.

The one about going way over my Friday night budget.

One of my favourite pieces. The proportions of this “lawn dress” are so off – longish short sleeves, high waist, mid-calf length. It’s the only loudly printed dress in the collection. And I love it because of its vintage feel. Since I already live in shirt dresses, this is perfect addition to my uniform. I wore them today with leather loafers, no jewelry except for a rough-cut diamond ring from India and Tierry Lasry sunglasses which my husband got me for my birthday.

Ines de la Fressange x UNIQLO is now available in select UNIQLO shops in the Philippines. Only the Mega Mall branch has the whole collection.

Go soon. Limited stocks. Many of my friends asked me about the collection on Friday night after I posted. They did a mad dash to Megamall on Saturday morning and got their Ines fix. They all posted “Blame Daphne” on their instagram. Haha.

Good luck shopping.
