I love the name, of course.
I’ve been meeting a lot of women who were former-somethings turned entrepreneur. Mavis Manotoc-Fuentebella and Vanessa Mayuga-Santos are among them. Mavis used to be a banker and Vanessa was a luxury PR and marketing professional.
Mavis had been dabbling in design and retail for a while now, known for her relaxed and casual style that’s popular among the trunk show/pop-up shop market. Mavis has since set up TALA Manila and Grubbies in a permanent shop called UPSTAIRS in Three Salcedo Place.
Stella by TALA is the new collection by Vanessa inspired by her 3 year old daughter Stella. Vanessa and Mavis are cousins. One of the signature pieces, “Carmen” is an embroidered dress that can convert to a top when the girls grow a little taller. The dress is named after their grandmother Carmen La’O Manotoc.
Here are photos from their recent launch.
